hello everybody

Our group has not been so successful, since there is no information on Hare Krishna close by. Only the internet and books can help us in our research. I found a used copy of "Chant and Be Happy," in a book store and couldn't help but chuckle at the serious faces of John and George on the cover along with Swami Prabhupada. One method anthropologists use in gathering data is photography. I hope to collect as much about the lifestyle, music, and art that was influenced in the 60's and 70's. Hopeful…

This is a great site, even if you're a devotee who isn't necessarily a member of ISKCON, it's just full of wonderful stuff (pics, info, videos, links) and worth all the questions you have to answer to be allowed to join. They've basically kept the lunatics out (aha, i fooled em ;)
Don't pretend you're not an internet ho already...... ;)

I have a blog on there too so please add me if you join up. http://puresoul.ning.com/profile/

Hello AG, Hare Krsna. Okay, here goes:
1) Since I bought a computer (about a year ago) and connected with the internet, I've increased my Krsna conscious activities of reading and chanting, besides renewing some old friendships. So, the internet has given me devotee association, that I hadn't had for many years.
2) My lack of austerities sets me apart from my past as a Hare Krsna devotee. When I was in the movement ('74-'77) I was surrounded by serious seekers of the Truth who spent 24 hours a day practicing Krsna consciousness. I would say that the movement has changed largely because of the departure of the perfect acharya, teacher by example. The pure devotee of God has immense potencies for spreading God consciousness or the soul's awakening. He infected all sincere seekers who came in contact with him with spiritual awakening. The devotees were able to accomplish amazing feats by serving Krsna's pure devotee. That's my explanation of how the Hare Krsna movement became so big and well known so fast. Now, I don't know much about what's going on in the Hare Krsna society of devotees. I know the numbers have decreased and most of the temples in the USA are filled with Indian devotees instead of American, but I also know that there are many highly qualified devotees out there who have remained steady in their service to their guru and I have the highest respect for them.
3) Not really. I do try to avoid wearing red or blue because that is what is recommended in the "Nectar of Devotion".
4) I would say yes. However, I sometimes eat food that has a small amount of egg products, just because it's in so many things. I offer almost all of my food to Krsna, through Srila Prabhupada. Then, if accepted, it becomes prasadam.
5) I'm only interested in forming intimate "friendships". No more sex or marriage for me. Hare Krsna!
